Cooking for me is a passion – I just love well cooked food, yeah, and bread.

I learnt to cook in my younger years cooking with my family at home.

Being in an army family as a child I was subject to many varied recipes from different countries as I travelled the world with my mum and dad. I think we were cooking curry recipes before they became standard fare in the British home.

Through our travels we met many nationalities who taught us how to cook their local dishes and sauces. From Italy to the far east and beyond we were taught the best meals, and street food, one can imagine.

SO WHAT ABOUT BREAD!

My bread journey started in 2010 when I tried to make my first loaf at home. Well, it turned out disastrous – a bit of a brick and pretty much inedible. So, I gave up – well sort of – I wasn’t totally deterred from continuing the journey.

It was when I went to a farmers market, a couple of years later, where there was the ubiquitous bread stall selling fantastic looking artisan loafs of bread. I summoned up the courage to ask the baker how he made the bread. “Come to my course” he said, and I’ll teach you. So I did!

My first loafs from the course were better, but still terrible – although they were edible – so I had improved.
